Gangtok, April 24: (IPR) The Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and Horticulture Shri Lok Nath Sharma called a meeting to review the ongoing activities and further strengthening of SIMFED during lockdown period, at his chamber at Tashiling Secretariat, today.
The meeting also had the presence of Principal Secretary Agriculture and Horticulture Shri R Telang, Secretary Agriculture Shri Rinzing C Bhutia, CEO Sikkim Organic Mission Dr S Anbalagan, Managing Director SIMFED Shri Pawan Awasthi and senior officials.
The meeting reviewed on various activities carried out by SIMFED during Lockdown and further discussed the strengthening of a mechanism for the marketing of vegetables and flowers.
SIMFED has been asked to work out on its requirements to meet up future challenges as well.
The mobile van selling vegetables and ration, initiated by SIMFED during the lockdown period was well appreciated by the Hon’ble Minister and further instructed to expand its network to other districts too. SIMFED was also asked to explore the possibilities of operating the feed mill to cater to the requirement of the fodder in the state.
The establishment of a collection centre for vegetables along with the cold storage was also discussed.
