Gangtok, April 21 (IPR): With the view to avail essential commodities and kitchen items at every doorstep, Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd (SIMFED) launched the Mobile Ration Van in Gangtok, today. The Hon`ble Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Shri Lok Nath Sharma launched the Mobile Ration Van to ensure delivery of basic commodities and other kitchen items at the time of COVID-19 crisis.
Speaking to media, after launching the Mobile Van, Minister Sharma informed that the SIMFED has come up with a new initiative to launch the Mobile Ration Van that will carry every essential commodity like rice, mustard oil, pulse, flour, sugar, salt, soaps, etc. and make a round of interior pockets in the capital and outside to avail all required basic items for individuals and retail soaps at a reasonable rate. He also assured to maintain all preventive measures like social distancing at the time of selling items at a minimum rate to benefit the people.
Managing Director, SIMFED, Shri Pawan Awasthy said that the SIMFED will work according to the route plan and the customer will be informed in advance about the movement of the Mobile Ration Van. He also informed that the swap system will be installed for cashless transaction. It was felt necessary to launch the van to ensure the convenience of the customers during the ongoing lockdown period. It may be noted that the SIMFED has been working tirelessly to deliver vegetables in all four districts during COVID 19 crisis.
