Gangtok, 16 April (IPR): The CSR wing of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has donated around some amount of Rs 24.85 Lakhs to the administration of all the four districts of Sikkim towards its contribution in the fight against COVID19, a press release informs.
POWERGRID has planned a series of initiative to contribute to Sikkim’s fight against COVID19. This includes monetary contributions, support fabrication of ventilator beds and other treatment support aids, distribution of Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs), masks and distribution of dry rations to the needy people.
A monetary contribution of Rs 7.85 Lakhs for 10 numbers of ventilator beds is provided to DC WEST, Rs 7 Lakhs each to DC East and DC North for rations and PPE kits and Rs 3 Lakhs to DC South for the same.
A round some amount of Rs 5 lakh was taken as advance by POWERGRID executives for CSR activities in the vicinity of respective POWERGRID Substation. With this amount, in coordination with Area Panchayat, was utilized to provide dry rations, PPE Kits to stranded labourers and local residents with prior intimation to respective District Administration, the release adds.
Commenting on the initiative, POWERGRID’s Senior General Manager, Shri Bhabataran Ghosh (Project Incharge, Sikkim Consultancy Works) said, “We stand united with the Government of Sikkim to provide the relentless support in this challenging time. This contribution is an expression of our solidarity with the people of the state which has been home for POWERGRID for over a decade”.
