Gangtok, 16 April (IPR): Amidst the battle against the novel coronavirus outbreak, 22-year-old Bissu Hang Limboo who hails from Sumbok/ Bermiok Berthang Gram Panchayat Unit under Gyalshing Bermiok constituency West Sikkim, developed a vehicle disinfecting device that can be used to disinfect the vehicles.
The demonstration of the device was also witnessed by the Hon’ble Minister for Land Revenue and Disaster Management Shri KN Lepcha, Hon’ble Minister Energy and Power Shri MN Sherpa, Hon’ble Minister Public Health Engineering Shri Bhim Hang Limboo, Hon’ble MLA Namcheybong Shri Em Prasad Sharma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament ( Lok Sabha) Shri Indra Hang Subba, Hon’ble Political Secretary to HCM Shri Jacob Khaling, Secretary Land Revenue and Disaster Management Shri PN Sherpa, Additional Director General of Police Shri Akshey Sachdeva, Director SSDMA Shri GC Khanal, Designated Officer from Food Safety&Standard Cell and Sanitation Cell from Health and Family Welfare Deptt, Government of Sikkim and media persons.
While presenting a demonstration of the device at the residential premises of Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA of Gyalshing Bermiok constituency, at VIP colony, Gangtok, today, Shri Bissu Hang Limboo informed that the device is in its experimental phase and, if approved by the State government, can be set up at the two main check-posts of Melli and Rangpo for disinfecting incoming vehicles in an effort to maintain zero COVID-19 case status of the State in the nation.
The proposed cost-effective vehicle disinfecting device will be powered by electricity with minimum manpower requirement while being a time-efficient measure in the sanitization process at check-posts, he added.
Bissu Hang expressed his deepest gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister-cum Area MLA, Gyalshing-Bermiok Constituency, Shri Lok Nath Sharma, for supporting the project and for providing the required resources in assembling the device.
Lauding the innovation of Bishu Hang, Hon’ble Minister Shri Kunga Nima said that the Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department in consultation with the State government and other line departments will push forward the project after evaluating the effectiveness of the device in sanitizing vehicles. He added that the State government will extend its full support in providing a structured and well-planned set-up for modification of the device.
Hon’ble Minister Lok Nath Sharma also briefly highlighted the objective of the device to disinfect every vehicle as an essential safety measure against COVID-19. He drew lights on experimental aspects of the low-cost device and put forth his suggestion to add multiple nozzle spray to enhance its effectiveness.
Additional Director General of Police, Shri Akshay Sachdeva, also appreciated and praised Bissu Hang’s innovative contribution in developing the vehicle sanitizing device to combat COVID-19 outbreak in the State. He informed that once the project is approved by the State government, Sikkim Police in coordination with the Health Department will set up the device developed by Bishu Hang at the two main check-posts of Melli and Rangpo.
It may be mentioned here that the vehicle disinfecting device is cost-effective which is mainly designed and structured with a medicine tank that is connected with rubber made socket pipe and induction motor which rotates the fan to create pressure for dispersion of liquid into a spray over the vehicle passing through.
