LD Kazi Gold Cup Football Tournament kicks off in Chakhung

Gyalshing, 09 May (IPR): The 5th inter school boys’ L.D. Kazi Gold Cup Football Tournament kicked off at Chakhung sports ground in West Sikkim today.


The inaugural event of the tournament was attended by Minister for Human Resource Development Department, R.B. Subba, as chief guest. Officials from the Sports and Youth Affairs Department and others were also present in the event.

In the opening match of the tournament, Central Pendam Senior Secondary (East Sikkim) School won against Bariakhop Senior Secondary School (West Sikkim)by 2-1 goals.

In the second match of the day, Namchi Public School (South) defeated Chujachen Senior Secondary School (East) by 3 goals.

One hundred and ninety four schools from all four districts of the State had participated in the preliminary selection round of the tournament out of which 16 schools from four districts have made it to the final round of the tournament to compete for the coveted trophy and a chance to represent Sikkim at the Subroto Mukherjee Interschool Football Tournament in Delhi.
