Chief Secretary held a preparatory meeting for the visit of the Hon’ble Vice President of India

Gangtok, 04 March (IPR): Chief Secretary Shri S.C. Gupta held a preparatory meeting this afternoon at the conference hall of Tashiling Secretariat in connection with the upcoming two-daylong visit of the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, to Sikkim scheduled on 14-15 March.

The CS was accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary, Raj Bhavan, Dr. K. Jayakumar, and Director General of Police, Shri A.S. Rao. The meeting also had the presence of Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and officers of line departments along with members of Thakurbari Mandir Committee, representatives from SRM University, Black Cat division and other dignitaries.

While briefing the gathering on the details of the Vice President’s visit, the CS informed that the VP will be inaugurating the newly constructed Thakurbari temple in Gangtok on the first day of his visit on 14 March.

Thereafter, the VP will also be attending the foundation stone laying ceremony of Residential Education Centre of Akhil Bharatiya Dayanand Sevashram Sangh at Sonam Gyatso Marg on the same day.

On 15 March, the VP will depart for Bagdogra after attending the 2nd convocation of SRM University as chief guest at Manan Kendra.

The representatives of the line departments and organising committees briefed the CS on the preparatory measures and activities being undertaken in their respective fields.

The CS urged all concerned to work in tandem for successful turn of events during the VP’s visit to the State.
