Hon’ble Minister Shri L. N. Sharma meets with the Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH

Gangtok, Feb 27: (IPR) Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Shri Lok Nath Sharma had a brief meeting with the Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt of India Shri Roshan Jaggi, Director General, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences Prof. KS Dhiman and officials from the Ministry in a local hotel in the Capital, this evening. The delegates from the Union Ministry have arrived here in the State to attend an “International Workshop on Preservation of Sowa Rigpa in Asia” to be held at Chintan Bhawan, Gangtok, tomorrow.

Minister Sharma informed that the State of Sikkim is completely dedicated to implement all the schemes and programmes of the Government of India. The state will leave no stone unturned to double the income of the farmers in the state.

Minister Sharma also shared about the medicinal potential in the himalayan region of Sikkim and urged the Ministry for the establishment of a Pharmacy institute of Herbal Medicinal plants to ensure optimum benefits to the farmers from the available medicinal resources with value addition. During the discussion, officials from the Ministry appreciated the planning and assured to extend all possible support for development of AYUSH components in the State of Sikkim.

Minister also offered traditional Khada to the officials and accorded warm welcome to the state of Sikkim.
