Gangtok,10th Feb: A meeting of the State Advisory Committee under the PC & PNDT was held at the Conference Hall of the Health Care, Human Services and Family Welfare today
chaired by the principal Secretary/HC, HS&FWD Shri. K.Sreenivasulu (IAS).
The meeting was also attended by Dr.K Jigmee Tobgay (PDHTS), Dr. Paras M.Karki (Consultant), Dr. Jigme Tenzing (Pediatrician STNM), Dr. Niti Lama(DIO Law dept), Dr.Neera Lepcha(L.O. Health dept) and other officials and members of the Advisory Committee.
The meeting was primarily held to discuss and deliberate upon the various agenda like renewal of USG Clinic Sukhim Diagnostic Centre, to increase the number of USG Clinic in the state, including the state appropriate authority to be designated for advisory board and to cesarean section audit and IUI registration under ART act -fess structure CRH will be decided by the state as one time registration fees and had to renewed after 5 years only.
The Chairperson of the State Advisory Committee called for collection of information on the PNDT . Chairperson also stressed on the strengthening of the PNDT Cell of the State Government and solicited strict vigilance and combined efforts from the members of the Advisory Committee.
It may be informed here that the ( PreConception and Pre Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act) has been enacted by the Parliament of India to stop female foeticide and tackle the alarmingly declining sex ratio in the country. The act that was assented in 1 994 and commenced from 1996 bans prenatal sex determination and regulates prenatal diagnostic techniques like ultrasound and amniocentesis.
