Chennai, Feb 1 (IPR): As envisioned by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri P.S. Tamang to witness a substantial growth momentum in dairy farming and milk production in the State, Government of Tamil Nadu has become ready to extend cooperation and support for Dairy Development in the State of Sikkim.
Hon’ble Minister, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Shri Lok Nath Sharma called on the Hon’ble Minister, Milk and Dairy Development, Government of Tamil Nadu Shri Thiru K.T. Rajenthra Bhalaji at his residence in Chennai, today. Minister Sharma who is on study tour to South India, is accompanied by the CEO Sikkim Organic Mission Dr. S. Anbalagan.
During the meeting, both the Ministers shared existing scenario of dairy farming in their state and contemplated to explore in the field of Animal Husbandry through mutual support and cooperation. Minister Sharma urged Shri Bhalaji to visit Sikkim with technical expertise to further strengthen milk productivity and other sectors of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in the state. Minister Bhalaji also assured to visit Sikkim next month along with the officials and field experts to conduct research for further development. He also assured to provide High Yielding Variety of cow which would be suitable in the climate of Sikkim. Minister Sharma also discussed on ways and means to enhance productivity of milch animals, marketing of Organic Produces and other farmers oriented schemes.
Minister Shri Lok Nath Sharma also visited the farm of Department of Horticulture Plantation Crops, Tamil Nadu Horticulture Management, Govt. of Tamil Nadu at Madhavaram, Chennai, yesterday.
He also visited Mushroom Production Unit wherein Milky Mushroom Shed, Oyster Mushroom Shed and Mushroom Beds Packing Units were established and took stock on the various technical aspects, process of production and post harvest management.
He also visited Integrated Chocolate Making Unit in the premises.
