Vellore, Jan 30: (IPR) Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Information and Public Relations and Printings and Stationery Departments Shri Lok Nath Sharma who is on study tour to Tamil Nadu, visited two different farms in Vellore District, today.
Minister Sharma visited Integrated Farming Centre at Virinjipuram to understand how all components of farming can be adopted within a farm to maximise production through optimal use of local resources, recycling of farm waste for productive purposes and to develop a judicious mix of income generating activities including Dairy, vermicomposting etc. He was professed with a scientific method of preparing organic feed locally called “Sailesh” for cow and said that it can be adopted by Sikkim in near future. He was informed that the a Sailesh feeding cow produces fifty litres of milk per day in the farm. He toured the premises seeing and learning how seeds are propagated and new techniques and approaches are manifested for better output.
He also visited Coconut Farm at Nawlakhe and planted a coconut sapling. He was accompanied by the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Joint Director, Agriculture, and officials from Government of Tamil Nadu.
Later in the evening, Minister Sharma called on the Minister for Commercial Taxes and Land Revenue, Government of Tamil Nadu Shri KC Veeramani at Circuit House, Vellore. Both the Minister exchanged greetings and shared new initiation of their Government. Minister Sharma also discussed on the subjects of agriculture importance and techniques & approaches applied for best practices in Tamil Nadu which can be adopted in Himalayan state of Sikkim in near future.
