Mangan, 2nd January 2020: (IPR) Hon’ble Minister for Forest, Environment & Wildlife, Mines, Mineral & Geology and Science & technology, Shri Karma Loday Bhutia on Thursday inaugurated three days long ‘State Level Namprikdang Namsoong Festival 2019-20’ at Namprikdang ground, upper Dzongu, North Sikkim in a special presence of the Minister for Public Works Department and Culture Affairs and Heritage Department, Shri Samdup Lepcha.
The festival organised by the Namprikdang Namsoong Celebration Committee was also attended by the Incharge Dzongu constituency Smt Chungkipu Lepcha, District Magistrate, North, Shri Tenzing T. Kaleon, Head of Offices of the District and local dignitaries.
Upon his arrival, Minister Shri Bhutia was given warm welcome by the Namprikdang Namsoong Celebration Committee followed by visit of the traditional food stall and stalls put up by different departments and Self Help Groups.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Shri Bhutia expressed his happiness to the Namprikdang Namsoong Celebration Committee for offering him an opportunity to witness the programme as the chief Guest.
He stated that Dzongu is one of the sacred region of Sikkim having its own unique identity, culture and history, therefore general public of Dzongu needs to join hand in preserving its uniqueness.
Talking on Tourism sector, Minister, Shri Bhutia said that Dzongu is intact with high tourism potentiality thus the young generation of the region must come forward to harness these opportunity for the betterment and economic upliftment. He also insisted the youth of Dzongu to take sports as an alternative carrier as it vast scope.
Lastly, for the holistic development of Dzongu the state government would give high priority in over all sector, he assured.
First day of said festival also saw colorful traditional dance and traditional sports competition.
