Gangtok,November 26 (IPR): Three daylong State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for the Children 2019-20 (SLSMEE-2019-20) was inaugurated on 26th November 2019 at Deorali Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Gangtok, East Sikkim. The chief guest for the occasion was the Prof. Dinesh Singh from NCERT who did the honours in the presence of Shri. Bhim Thatal, SPD, Samagra Shiksha and Dr. Rabin Chhetri Director, SCERT, Education Department, Government of Sikkim. The event was being organized by SCERT, Education Department, Government of Sikkim with support from Samagra Shiksha, Education Department and NCERT, New Delhi. The event will be held for three days from 26th to 28th November 2019.
The main theme for State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition 2019-20 is
“Science and Technology for Sustainable Development”
The sub themes are:
1. Sustainable Agricultural Practices;
2. Cleanliness and Health;
3. Resource Management;
4. Industrial Development;
5. Future Transport and Communication;
6. Educational Games and Mathematical Modeling.
The judges for the exhibition are:

2. Shri. Tempis Namgyal Senior Technical Director, NIC
3. Shri. Kshitiz Chettri Assistant Prof. Nar Bahadur Bhandari Degree College
4. Dr. J. Panda Associate Prof. College of Agricultural Engineering & Post Harvest Technology (CAEPHT)
36 schools are participating from different districts with their exhibits and models.
The top ten schools selected during this exhibition will be representing the State in the Eastern India Science Fair 2020 to be held in Birla Industrial and Technological Museum, Kolkata from 14th – 18th January 2020.
Apart from that, NCERT will go through the write-ups and video CD of models of winning ten schools and invite the shortlisted schools next year in the month of November 2020 for 47th Jawahar Lal Nehru National Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children 2020 to be held in one of the State capitals. This year three schools from Sikkim participated 46th Jawahar Lal Nehru National Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for children 2019 to be held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
