Hon’ble Minister Shri Lok Nath Sharma chaired a coordination meeting with the Service Provider Agencies and Certification Bodies

Gangtok, November 20 (IPR): Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, IPR and Printings & Stationery Departments Shri Lok Nath Sharma chaired a coordination meeting with the Service Provider Agencies and Certification Bodies in special presence of Principal Secretary Agriculture and Horticulture Departments Shri R. Telang, Secretary Agriculture Shri Rinzing C. Bhutia and Secretary Horticulture Shri MT Sherpa, Government of Sikkim at the conference hall of Krishi Bhawan, Gangtok, today.

The meeting was attended by seven Service Provider Agencies including International Panacea Ltd (IPL), New Delhi; MR Morarka GDC Rural Research Foundation, Rajasthan; Mevedir Gangtok; Sresta Natural Bioproducts Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad; Organic Sikkim, Gangtok; SIMFED Gangtok, CONCEDE Tadong, Gangtok and three Certification Agencies including Onecert International Pvt.Ltd. Jaipur; Lacon Quality Certification Pvt. Ltd. Kerala and Sikkim State Organic Certification Agency ( SSOCA) Gangtok.

While interacting with the Service Providers and Certification Agencies during their presentations of ICS activities, Minister Sharma asked on various subjects incorporated in the signed agreement and enquired on the activities being taken up practically in the field.
Minister took stock on cross matching of volume of certified land in documents and availability of productivity land in the field, Conduction of orientation training programme to the farmers and ICS field functionaries, Maintenance of Farmers diary and urged Service Providers to focus on marketing of certified products for the benefits of the farmers. He also asked service providers to inform farmers about the commodities and location of their respective outlets in the State.

Addressing the house, Minister Lok Nath Sharma, urged Service Providers and Certifying Agencies to visit individual farmers to verify cultivated land to fulfil all the commitments made in signed agreement. He also asked participants to be more serious and proactive to follow the guidelines and directives in practice covering every components and elements of their responsibilities.

He also directed Service providers to present brand of Sikkim Organic and Green Economy in the product and to work for Marketing of the production extensively so as to achieve a common goal to multiply farmers’s income manifolds.
Minister Sharma emphasised on planning and programmes of the State Govt under the leadership of the Chief Minister Shri P.S. Tamang.
Minister also asked to present authentic field report and urged everyone to address the existing issues for impactful outcome and benefits of the farmers.

Principal Secretary Agriculture & Horticulture Shri R. Telang, in his address, stressed to ensure additional income of the farmers on account of certification. He urged participants to sought out a mechanism with appropriate ways and means to make the process meaningful and sustainable and stressed for plan of action to strengthen FPOs.

Secretary Agriculture Shri Rinzing C. Bhutia also addressed the house while the meeting was coordinated by the Principal Director Shri MK Pradhan.

Earlier, all the Service Provider Agencies including IPL, Morarka, Mevedir, Sresta, Organic Sikkim, SIMFED, CONCEDE and Certifying Agencies presented their activities in details.
