New Delhi, 25 April (IPR): Sikkim has bagged the National e-Panchayat Puraskar 2018 (1st Prize under Category I) on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Diwas held at Rampur in Mandala, Madhya Pradesh today. Special Secretary cum Director Panchayat, RM&DD, Government of Sikkim, Shri M.N. Dhakal, received the award on behalf of the State from Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Similarly, Maniram Phalidara Gram Panchayat of South Sikkim was awarded the Gram Panchayat Development Plan Award by the Hon’ble PM which was received by Panchayat member, Shri Topda Bhutia.
Union Minster for RD & Panchayati Raj, Government of India, Shri Narendra Singh Tommar, and Minister of State for Panchayati Raj and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, Shri Parshottam Rupala, handed over the following awards to Sikkim:
1. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (DDUPSP) to South District Zilla Panchayat which was received by Adhyaksha, Ms. Farwanti Tamang, and Up-Adhyaksha, Shri Bhim Bahadur Lakhey.
2. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (DDUPSP) to Martam Gram Panchayat Unit, West Sikkim which was received by Panchayat Sabhapati, Shri Chabi Lal Chettri, and Panchayat Sachiva, Shri Kumar Rai.
3. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (DDUPSP) for Namphing Gram Panchayat, South Sikkim which was received by Panchayat Sabhapati, Shri Bikash Sharma, and Panchayat Up-Sabhapati, Shri Durga Bahadur Subba.
4. Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar (NDRGGSP) to Gram Panchayats for outstanding performance of Gram Sabha GPDP Award to Tingvong Gram Panchayat, North Sikkim which was received by Panchayat Sabhapati, Shri Tshering Rapjor Lepcha, and Panchayat Sachiva, Shri Norgay Lepcha.
The delegation from Sikkim have attributed the awards to the visionary and consistent leadership and guidance of the State Government led by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling and the efforts from officers, Panchayats and field functionaries of RM&DD.
