Minister-cum-Area MLA of Geyzing Bermiok constituency Inaugurated Close Circuit Surveillance Camera for Gyalshing town

, November 8 (IPR) : meeting convened by Geyzing Municipal council (GMC) at the municipal office, today.

Various issues of GMC relating to maintenance of sanitation in the town, waste management, subletting of licences and other important subjects were discussed in detail.

The meeting was attended by D.C (west) Karma R. Bonpo, GMC’s chairman I.K Neupaney and the representatives of bazaar community.

Addressing the gathering Minister Loknath Sharma stressed to verify the legality of issued trade licenses and said that the illegal licenses should be cancelled and the norms for procuring licenses must be authenticated by GMC. “The concerned department will look after the trade license issue and will take the necessary actions”, he added.
He informed that as in Gangtok the online system for dealing with issues related to GMC would be initiated very soon. He exerted that collective effort is necessary to fight back the issues related to waste management and maintaining cleanliness in the town. “Geyzing bazar will be the cleanest town in the state if we work in unison to sort out the issues related to waste management”, he said.
Sharma termed the plastic ban in the town as a progressive step taken by GMC and called for effective imposition of plastic ban.
He shared that allotment of rooms at the government property around the town should be verified so that the government facilities reach to the needy.
Municipal Executive Officer (MEO) Bhoomika Pradhan in the meeting tabled the issues such as necessity of source segregation of dry and wet waste, collection of certain amount of tax for garbage management mission and by – laws to be framed against the people who violates the norms. The meeting passed the resolutions that the amount determined by GMC would be paid for solid waste management and the defaulters who violate the norms would be fined according. Pradhan further informed that the revenue collected from the people would go for maintenance of sanitation in the town.
Bhoomika Pradhan further informed that comprehensive plastic ban in the town should be imposed to eradicate the hazards caused by plastics. usage of plastic items have been banned in the town since a month.

On provision and renewal of trade license Bhoomika Pradhan maintained that everything should be systematized and proper documentations and verification should be done by GMC. She shared that GMC would take necessary step to sort out the issues pertaining to practice of subletting trade license in the town. She shared about various plans and mission of GMC for improving the conditions of Geyzing bazaar.

Earlier, GMC installed 10 high resolutions CC cameras at different places of the town and planted flowering plants around the town. Minister Loknath Sharma inaugurated the television room at GMC connected to CC cameras functional around the town.
