Gangtok, 6th Nov (IPR): Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Ganga Prasad today granted audience to 21 members group comprising of elected representatives, faculty members, local government functionaries, and support staff from Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) at Raj Bhawan.
The group is in Sikkim for a four days educational tour as a part of their course module for Diploma in Gender and Local Governance. The group was led by Shri Hemant Yadav, research Scholar of Sikkim University, as its Gangtok Coordinator.
In his brief address to the team members, Hon’ble Governor highlighted about the achievements of Sikkim specially in gender equality, women empowerment, safety and security of women, Swachhta, green initiatives, tourism and organic farming. Hon’ble Governor further stated that it’s a matter of satisfaction for the State that the developed state like Kerala are now choosing Sikkim as their destination of educational tour and are learning about organic farming, Panchayati Raj, environmental policies and social harmony. He also urged the members of the team to exchange their views and ideas with their counterparts in Sikkim in the course of their field visit and take back the good practices that Sikkim has championed in socio-economic front.
