Mangan, November 4 (IPR): District Level Annual School Sports Competition and talent hunt 2019-20, under -17 boys and girls kicked off in North Sikkim here at Mangan Public ground today.
The said sporting event was organized by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim. The competition features eight disciplines- Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Football, Karate, Table Tennis and Taekwondo.
The event was graced by the Councillor, MNP, Shri Ugen Palden Kazi, who was accompanied by Deputy Director, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sikkim, North Smt. Janim Lepcha, Assistant Director, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim, North, Dathup Lepcha.
There was large number of participation of boys and girls from Junior High Secondary schools, Secondary schools and Senior Secondary schools from the district. The sports competitors were selected from all schools of the North District. These competitors have been drawn from all four Blocks of the District viz. i) Mangan BAC. ii) Dzongu BAC. iii) Kabi BAC. iv) Chungthang BAC.
The three-daylong annual school sports competition will be held in various disciplines at different venues, on 4th football selection will be played at Mangan Public Ground, on 5th Taekwondo and table tennis at Mangan School Hostel and on 6th Athletics at Mangan Public Ground and all selected (winners) players will represent the forthcoming state level competition.
