Chairman, Finance Commission holds meet with HCM and State Cabinet Ministers

Gangtok, 24 Sept (IPR): Hon’ble Chairman and Members of 15th Finance Commission held a meeting with Hon’ble Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Secretary and senior officers of the Government of Sikkim at the conference hall of Tashiling Secretariat today.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), in his key note address, highlighted the focus areas of the State for consideration by the 15th Finance Commission.

Chief Secretary Shri A.K. Shrivastava also made key submissions before the Commission while Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Shri S.C. Gupta, made a detailed presentation on various areas of fiscal health of the State and placed the demands of the State before the Commission.

After thorough deliberation and observations by the Members, the final comments were made by Hon’ble Chairman Shri N.K. Singh. He thanked the Chief Minister for placing pertinent issues of the State before the Commission and assured that all the points have been noted positively. He stated that the Commission will thoroughly study the proposals and consider them in the recommendations.

Appreciating the tremendous progress of the State, the Chairman said that “Sikkim can be a driver of National growth momentum” and gave his assurances that core issues like connectivity, education and healthcare would receive the highest recommendations from the Commission. In conclusion, the Chairman thanked the state for the warmth and hospitality extended to the visting delegates of the 15th Finance Commission.
