Gangtok, 15 Sept (IPR): Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri P.S. Tamang (Golay) attended the first State level Convention 2019 of Group C and D employees at Paljor Stadium here today.
The function organised by the All Sikkim Government Employees Association (ASGEA), Group C and D/PSUs also had the presence of Ministers, MLAs, HODS including host of employees from the C and D group at large.
The HCM in his opening address firstly welcomed and congratulated all those present in the gathering on behalf of the government. He offered his gratitude and thanked all the individuals present in the gathering for bestowing their trust and faith in the new government and being an agent of change in the formation of the new government.
He stated that organising such programmes is very important for the survival and sustenance of the association. He talked on the importance of unity among employees and said that now is the right time for the employees to work collectively and proactively for the betterment of the State.
“This is pro-people Government and we are leaving no stone unturned for uplifting the general masses especially those employees belonging to C and D category group. The Government is committed to provide important facilities and preferences to the employees of the Cand D category groups,” he added.
Motivating the gathering, the HCM said that all individuals must rise above their selfish self and work for the benefit of the State as a whole. He also highlighted on the plight of the employees from the C and D group employees including those of MR, Workcharge, Adhoc, etc., and said that the previous government created much obstructions and did nothing much to absorb or regularise the deserving employees but the present government will work actively to restore all the rights of the employees.
He further appealed all the employees present to work honestly and diligently and help the government in fulfilling all the promises delivered to the public and further added that the immense contribution of the employees especially from the C and D is much needed for the development and progress of the State.
The HCM also announced that the pending arrears of the State government employees will be given in a single installment and the State government has already set up funds to provide the pending arrears at the earliest. He also mentioned that a proper policy on Appointment, Transfer, Promotion and Retirement of the Government Employees will be framed soon and further added that the renewal of registration of Employment Association will be done every five years which will being much respite to the employees. He further added that soon the Government will prepare the assessment report of all the Ministers and MLAs and added that the Government belongs to all the people.
Also, keeping in mind the health of the employees, the HCM informed the gathering that the State government will provide health insurance services to all employees including Adhoc,MRs, etc. He also stated that the present government does not support service extensions and mentioned that extension for the C and D group employees will be done solely on priority basis on special or domestic grounds. He said that the government will do its best to provide justice to the employees and assured them to meet up all their demands and grievances after proper consultation with the Chief Secretary and concerned HODs.
Lastly, the HCM added, “We must work towards positive change in the working of our system so that the whole society is uplifted as a whole. Therefore, I urge all the employees to work proactively and fulfill their duties responsibly to take the State to another level of growth and prosperity.”
Also, during the function, Shri Rapden Bhutia (General Secretary) ASGEA presented the reports of Association which was followed by a short speech on the functioning of the association by Shri Sangay Zangpoo Bhutia, Chairman, ASGEA before the gathering.
Earlier, the HCM was felicitated the members of the All Sikkim Government Employees Association (Group C and D)/PSUs. The function also witnessed colourful dance and song performances including a band display by the students of PNG Senior Secondary School.
