HCM attends inaugural function of Sri Ganesh Maha Puran at Viswa Vhinayak Mandir

Rhenock September 3rd (IPR): The Hon’be Chief Minister Shri P.S. Tamang (Golay) attended the inaugural function of Sri Ganesh Maha Puran at Viswa Vhinayak Mandir, Rhenock, East Sikkim today. The Weeklong Sri Ganesh Maha Puran is being organised by the mandir committee on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi at Viswa Vinayak Mandir.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the organizing committee for the invitation. He opined that the present government is committed on not mixing politics with religion and wants to keep religious sentiments of the people away from politics.

Further he added that in such religious and spiritual functions one should not see the party affiliation. The mark left by the previous government where approval and consent of the government was of paramount importance in organizing such religious function should be stopped. Religion, art, culture etc should be kept away from politics.

During his brief speech he also informed that in this short tenure of 3 months the government has appointed 170 Sanskrit teachers in the state. He gave his assurance that at least 2 Sanskrit teachers will appointed at Viswa Vinayak mandir as per the requirement.

The Chief Minister also assured full support and cooperation from the government and said that he is open to all the ideas and suggestions from the organizing committee as well as from the people of the area.

The function was also attended by the Speaker Shri L.B Das, Cabinet Minister Shri Kunga Nima Lepcha, Area MLA/Chairman STCS Shri. Bishnu Kumar Khatiwada, Confidential Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bikash Basnett, SP East Shri Hari Chettri, SDM Rongli along with large number of local gentries.
