DEO South launches Electors Verification Programme in Namchi

Namchi, 01 Sept (IPR): District Election Officer-cum-District Collector South District, Shri Ragul K., launched the Electors Verification Programme (EVP) for 10. Poklok Kamrang and 11. Namchi Singhithang Constituencies at the conference hall of DAC in Namchi today.

The programme had the attendance of ADC (South), Shri. Satyen K. Pradhan, US, Election Department, Shri Saran Kalikotay, BDO, Namchi, Smt Babita Rai, BDO, Sikip, Smt Tirsang Tamang, along with EROs, AEROs and BLOs of 10. Poklok-Kamrang and 11 Namchi-Singhithang Constituencies.

This initiative launched today has been spearheaded by Election Commission of India through out the nation for the verification of errors of electoral card. EVP is the largest voter’s verification drive by the Election Commission of India and will continue till 15th of October 2019.

Addressing the programme, the DEO, South urged all the electors of the district to actively participate in the EVP and requested the Booth Level Officers, Supervisory Officers, AEROs and EROs to review the progress of the EVP to ensure an error free Electoral Roll.

The DEO also urged the concerning authorities to be cautious while conducting the household survey for enrolling and correction of existing logical errors. Additionally, he also mentioned that all the voters can check, authenticate and verify their and their families’ details in their Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) for a 100% error-free Electoral Roll. Similarly, he also informed that information on verification of names, age, sex and photos can be assessed through the portal

As for conventional form of verification, the DEO stated that Voter Facilitation Centres have been established in respective DACs, BACs and SDMs offices in the district for the greater good of the public.

It may also be mentioned here that Electors Verification Programme (EVP)s was also launched simultaneously under SDMs and BDOs at their respective centres in the district today.
