DC South holds meet with representatives of political parties

Namchi, 07 Mar (IPR): A meeting with the representatives of various political parties was held at the chamber of District Collector cum District Election Officer (South) today. The meeting was chaired by DC cum DEO (South), Mr Ragul K., alongside Additional DC (South), Mr. Satyen Pradhan, and Superintendent of Police (South), Mr. Manish Verma. Also present were SP (Traffic), Ms. Linda Palmo, SDMs and SDPOs from the South District.

Addressing the meeting, DC, Mr. Ragul K., highlighted on the need for proper rules for issue of venue permissions for conducting various meeting. He also elucidated that it is imperative for the concerned political parties to take prior venue and mike permission from the office of DC and SP. Additionally, he emphasized certain circumstances wherein prior No Objection Certificate (NOC) will be required by the political parties and also informed the attendees that the window period for them to submit an application requesting venue and mike permission has been reduced upto three days before the meeting. Moreover, the officials and the representatives also identified the various venues which can be used for election purposes in the future.

During the course of the meeting, various suggestion and feedback were sought from the representatives. Based on all the suggestions, a set of new rules will be issued for issue of venue permissions.

The meeting ended with the DC requesting all the representatives of political parties to co-operate during the election period for the peaceful conduct of elections.
