204th Bhanu Jayanti Celebration Begins in Gyalshing

Gyalshing, 11 July (IPR): The inaugural ceremony of three-daylong 204th Bhanu Jayanti Celebration of 2018 was held at the Community Hall in Gyalshing today. The programme was inaugurated with lighting of lamp and prayers by Chairman, Gyalshing Municipal Council (GMC), IK Neopaney, District Collector, West, Dr. AB Karki, and Superintendent of Police, West, Karma Loden Lepcha, in the presence of Padma Shree Kadar Gurung.

Mr Neopaney, in his address, spoke on how one can benefit through life efficient teachings of Ramayan and how the teachings of good deeds can help an individual in the context of today’s world scenario. He appreciated the untiring efforts of Hon’ble Chief Minister Pawan Chamling in favour of growth in the poetic field of Nepali community and its poets. With a strong desire to conserve cultural ethics, he also encouraged all to take efficient steps towards conservation of culture in a positive manner.

Furthermore, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards all personnel who put in valuable efforts towards making the celebration a success. Lastly, he urged to take positive influence and suggested practicing valuable ethics.

The programme hosted an array of events including various cultural presentations and competitions in fields of Ramayan recitation, storytelling, poems, etc., which were performed by students of different schools from in and around Gyalshing.
Also present for the event were General Secretary, Sikkim Academy, TN Tewari, Joint Director, Human Resource Development Department, CK Katual, and all members of organizing committee.
